harrypotterconfessions:

These are two different books.
Two different plot.
ONE isn’t better than the other.
‘cause they are UNIQUELY built
by their respective creator’s imagination.
That’s why i don’t understand why people
are so much in the need on comparing which one
is better.
Some of the people who says “Twilight sucks!” doesn’t even know how to write a short story. You guys must know how hard it is for both of the authors to create a novel series.
I have read both of the books.
And I think, they are both incredible.
Please Respect that.

The fact that you said “Some of the people who says ‘Twilight sucks!’ doesn’t even know…” renders your argument moot.
Also, Twilight seems to be incapable of leading into actual altercations.  As an English major, I have every right to compare and judge any books I wish to, and Twilight barely qualifies as literature.  The writing is mediocre, there’s hardly any diversity in vocabulary, and it can almost directly be aligned with the Book of Mormon.  I have no qualms against Mormons, one of my best friends is a Mormon, but Stephenie Meyers is subtly putting these ideas into her demographics’ heads.  Bella Swan is an awful role model for teenage girls, and she teaches them that without a man, you are nothing.  You CAN compare them, it is a perfectly valid argument, and anybody with the slightest tinge of intelligence will tell you that in a literary comparison upon the strength of plot, characters, and writing style, Harry Potter is a far superior piece of literature.  The characters in Twilight are cookie-cutter and two-dimensional and many of them have stereotypical personalities and even when read with my own imagination sound monotone and boring.
One more thing:  The idea for Twilight came from Stephenie Meyers’ wet dream, where (even if she won’t admit it) her prophet, Joseph Smith, became a vampire (perfect, white, virgin until marriage, literally: the ideal Mormon) and her Mary Sue (read: Bella Swan) fell in love with him.
